Not that it's important or anything, but I joined on my birthday yesterday. Just one of many things that made a nice highlight. Of course, it didn't start out like that. I woke up 'round 11:30. I didn't wanna face the day, plus I...well, suspected isn't--no, yea, it's the exact word. Last year, everyone and their mother (almost literally) threw me a surprise party. Why, I have no idea, nor will I ever. My mom's idea, I knew.
It was all fun and games (though I was a little disgruntled, as I had rejected my mother's thought so very expressly and bluntly).
But now I'm getting annoyed.
Yeah, they did it again.
They acted all innocent, my parents, a bit more than last year. But I had more clues to work with.
Tuesday at the supermarket: me-"Why you buyin' so many sodas, ma?"
Ma- "'Cause you're dad's a fatass, now shut up!"
Plus there were a buttload of chips in the pantry and wings and taquitos in the freezer. They had also taken their time to wash the plastic chairs outside and move the patio furniture aside for the pingpong table.
Pop-"Yeah, we're playing it later [sly grin]. Now get your butt in the car, we're goin' to Barnes & Noble."
Never one to pass up the chance of getting my hands on the LoZ manga, I obliged.
So we're about to leave, and my dad's all, "We better hurry, Diego's (my friend) at home. Couldn't wait to give his gift."
I shrugged.
We got home. I wasn't sure, but I thought I heard the slightest of rustles over the fence. Maybe some laughter? Yet I remained virtually sure there was something going on. I was prepared. "Expect the expected.", I thought.
I got inside and greeted my friend's mother.
"Where's Diego?", I asked. I looked confused. There was no sign of him or his brothers anywhere.
"I'd check outside." said Diego's mom, smiling slightly.
There was no movement in the backyard. I knew it was coming.
"M'kay."
So I walked outside, and turned the outside corner of the house--
"SUR-FREAKIN'-PRISE!!!!!!!" yell around 15-20 nubs.
Brawl Wi-fi lag silence. Then...
[mock flinches, taken aback] "O-M-G! I totally wasn't expecting this."
And they all laughed.
"Wow, you know, you guys are hilarious." I said.
They all rushed up to group glomp me. My commands of "Gettoff!" I knew wouldn't work, but shouted them anyway. I was enjoying every minute of it. But of course, every rollercoaster has a huge dip. Or a slippery floor of vomit.
They made a retarded line and presented one by one, their presents (no pun intended). I hated every one of them for this.
But we partied ourselves ragged, which would distract me for a while. And it turned out to be alright.
Point I wanna make is, I didn't deserve it. Any of it. Just sayin'.
